General Questions

All answers below apply to both camper models

Both campers are propane free, four-season capable, and built on the same composite shell. The difference is size, and how you like to travel.

The Outpost 6.5 is the nimble one. It fits some half-ton trucks and larger, closes the tailgate on a standard 6′ 6″ bed, and is built for people who want to move fast and keep their truck options open.

The Outpost 8.0 is the roomy one. It is built for three-quarter-ton trucks and larger with an 8′ bed, and it adds an interior wet bath, double the fresh water, and space to actually spread out on a longer trip.

Both Outpost campers use a proprietary composite construction method. It delivers an industry leading insulation value and is virtually thermal transfer free, which is what makes genuine four-season performance possible rather than four-season marketing.

Neither camper uses propane. No tanks to fill, no tanks to weigh against your payload, and nothing to track down at 6pm on a Sunday three hours from the nearest town. It is one less system to inspect, one less thing to leak, and more of your payload left over for water and gear.

Both campers are production truck campers. That is how we keep build quality consistent and pricing where it is. Changes come from our list of optional add-ons rather than custom one-off builds, and the add-on list is different for each model. You will find both in the model sections below.

Every Outpost comes with a 3 year structural warranty on the camper body. Appliances are covered by their respective manufacturer warranties.

We sell directly from our HQ in Bayfield, Colorado, and through a growing network of dealer partners. Our guide, Where Can I See an Outpost in Person?, is the catch-all for this question. It covers dealer locations, the events we are headed to next, and how factory pickup works, and we keep it current so it is the right place to check before you plan a drive.

Most owners pick up from our factory or a dealer, and the factory pickup is genuinely worth the drive. If that is not practical for you, we can coordinate with third-party shipping services. Contact our team and we will sort out the logistics for your location.

Yes. Both campers come off the truck with their standard manual jacks and both are fully usable once they are off. One thing to know: when the camper is not secured to a truck, you need to support the cabover portion or secure the camper to the ground before that part of the camper is usable.

Outpost 6.5

The camper that started it all, now in its 2026 model year.

The Outpost 6.5 is designed for modern full size half-ton trucks and larger. A standard 6′ 6″ bed or longer lets you close the tailgate with the camper installed. Running a 5′ 5″ or 5′ 7″ short bed? It still works with the tailgate down or removed, and we have plenty of owners doing exactly that. Put it on a long bed to gain extra outdoor storage, we have owners doing this too.

The 2026 model brings integrated optional add-ons for more utility and refined interior touches for lasting comfort on the trail. The Outpost 6.5 starts at $41,995 plus taxes for the standard build, which is set up with all the systems and finishes most adventures call for. Camper details and pricing are subject to change.

The base model Outpost 6.5 has a dry weight of approximately 1,560 lbs, or roughly 1,730 lbs with the 20 gallon fresh tank full. That figure does not include camper jacks or any additional accessories. From there, account for your passengers and the gear you actually travel with, then check it against the payload sticker inside your driver side door.

The estimated center of gravity is 23.5″ rearward from the front wall of the camper. We spent real time on this while laying out the interior, because a camper that sits too far back turns a good truck into a nervous one. Long bed, standard bed, or short bed, your truck still drives like a truck.

The heart of it is an advanced electrical system by EcoFlow. A standard 5 kilowatt hour LiFePO4 battery system charges three different ways: solar, your vehicle’s alternator, and shore power. Pair that with generous water storage and an industry leading insulation value and you can stay comfortable well off the grid, then top back up however is easiest wherever you are.

Yes, and you can add it when you order or sometime down the road. The air conditioner replaces the Maxxair Deluxe fan, and when it is added as a factory option we install a smaller Maxxair Dome fan alongside it for fresh air ventilation.

The Outpost 6.5 comes standard with an internal tie-down system that secures the camper to the inside tie-down points of your truck bed using marine style transom straps. You can also use traditional truck tie-down methods like Torklift or Happijac systems, which attach to the tie down points on the camper jack mount brackets.

Outpost 8.0

The camper people have been asking us for since day one. Revealed August 2026.

The Outpost 8.0 is our second model and our first camper built for the 8′ long bed. Same composite shell, same propane free philosophy, same four-season insulation as the 6.5. More of everything else: more water, more storage, an interior wet bath, and room to stand up and move around.

 

The short version is that the 8.0 is larger and more feature packed than the 6.5. Here is the full side by side.

  • Truck. The 6.5 fits some half-tons and larger. The 8.0 is built for three-quarter-ton trucks and larger.
  • Bed length. The 6.5 closes the tailgate on a 6′ 6″ bed. The 8.0 needs an 8′ bed to close the tailgate. Both work on shorter beds with the tailgate down or removed.
  • Dry weight. Roughly 1,560 lbs for the 6.5. Roughly 2,000 lbs for the 8.0.
  • Bathroom. The 6.5 uses a removable cassette toilet with an optional shower enclosure. The 8.0 has a proper interior wet bath with a full height shower.
  • Water. The 6.5 carries 20 gallons of fresh. The 8.0 carries 40 gallons of fresh plus a 20 gallon grey tank.
  • Sleeping. Both have a cab-over queen. The 8.0 adds a convertible dinette for a second sleeping space.
  • Standing room. Both models give you 6′ 5″ of interior standing height. 
  • Power. Both come standard with a 5 kilowatt hour LiFePO4 system. The 8.0 can be upgraded to 10 kilowatt hours.
  • Price. The 6.5 starts at $41,995. The 8.0 starts at $59,995.

What they share: the same composite shell and insulation value, no propane in either one, and both come off the truck in minutes.

The base model Outpost 8.0 has a dry weight of approximately 2,000 lbs, or roughly 2,330 lbs with the 40 gallon fresh tank full. From there, account for your passengers and the gear you travel with, then check it against the payload sticker inside your driver side door.

40 gallons of fresh water, a 20 gallon grey tank, and a 5 gallon cassette for black. Double the fresh water capacity of the 6.5, which is what makes longer stretches between resupply realistic.

Yes, and it starts where the 6.5 does. A 5 kilowatt hour LiFePO4 battery system comes standard and can be upgraded to 10 kilowatt hours if you want to run longer or harder. It recharges the same three ways: solar, your vehicle’s alternator, and shore power.
