Now Available: On-Demand Hot Water

There’s nothing better than a warm rinse after a long day outside — and now you can enjoy that comfort anywhere your Outpost 6.5 takes you.

We’re excited to introduce one of our most requested add-ons yet: an on-demand hot water system built specifically for the Outpost 6.5. It brings instant, efficient hot water to your sink and rear shower sprayer — all while maintaining our propane-free design philosophy.

Why Propane-free matters

If you know the Outpost 6.5, you know it’s 100% propane-free — powered instead by a robust 48-volt electrical system that’s simple, reliable, and designed for true off-grid capability.

Going propane-free means fewer systems to maintain, fewer potential leaks, and no fumes or combustion risks inside the camper. But it also means we’ve had to get creative when it comes to heating water — and over the past year, we’ve been hard at work testing solutions that meet our high standards for performance and efficiency.

Behind the Scenes: Testing and Development

Before integrating any new component into production, we run extensive bench tests here at the shop.

As Taylor shares in the video above, this process allows us to measure electrical loads, water flow rates, and real-world performance in a controlled environment before the system ever goes into a camper.

After testing several different units, we landed on a compact, efficient on-demand water heater that integrates seamlessly with our 48-volt setup. It’s small, powerful, and purpose-built for the kind of adventure camping Outpost owners do.

Efficient, Compact, and Capable

Don’t let the small size fool you — this water heater packs a serious punch. It can raise water temperature by up to 40 degrees above ambient, giving you warm water for dishes, showers, and more.

On average, you’ll use about 1% of your battery for every minute of hot water. That same energy can be easily replenished off-grid via solar and dc to dc charging from your truck alternator.

It’s an impressively efficient setup that makes hot water truly viable in an off-grid, all-electric camper.

Clean Installation and Seamless Integration

Inside the camper, the hot water system is installed neatly out of the way underneath the sink. It provides hot water to both the sink and rear shower sprayer.

When you place your order, you’ll select all your optional add-ons a few weeks before your camper enters production — and that’s the perfect time to include the hot water system.

It’s one of several options we offer to personalize your Outpost 6.5 for how and where you travel most.

Retrofit Options for Current Owners

Already have an Outpost 6.5? Good news — this system can be retrofitted to existing campers. It’s a straightforward addition that can be installed by our service team or a capable DIYer. Reach out to us at [email protected] if you’re interested in adding this hot water heater to your Outpost 6.5.
